Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST) is a dynamic private university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, recognized for its interdisciplinary approach, international standards, and innovation-driven education. As part of the Inclusive Ecosystem Integration Labs (IEILs) network, University SSST acts as a living lab for Human–Machine Interaction (HMI) and digital health innovation, fostering collaboration between academia, industry, government, and civil society to accelerate inclusive technological progress and employment opportunities.

Innovation Ecosystem
Recognized for its interdisciplinary approach and international standards, the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST) acts as a living lab for Human–Machine Interaction (HMI) and digital health innovation. By fostering partnerships across the Quadruple Helix, SSST bridges academic excellence with real-world challenges to accelerate inclusive technological progress and employment opportunities. Innovation Lab
A hub supporting student innovation, hackathons, and idea incubation.
Entrepreneurship Club
Connects students to industry mentors, hackathons, and startup challenges.
Entrepreneurship Course
Integrated into curricula; includes company visits and applied projects.
Innovation Fund
Innovation Fund provides financial support for student-led and faculty-driven innovative solutions.
GAIA Lab
Is a fully equipped, high-tech training facility that serves as SSST’s central hub for developing green skills and supporting the capacity building of SMEs. It provides a dedicated space for hands-on training, demonstrations, and practical learning focused on green transition and sustainable business practices.
Virtual Reality Lab
A spacious VR lab that enables free movement and immersive interaction, equipped with two workstations, five VR sets (Meta Quest 2 and HTC Cosmos), and an 8×8 m green screen with professional lighting.
EV charger Lab
A pioneering facility in BIH dedicated to the development, testing, and innovation of advanced electric vehicle charging solutions.
UniMed Polyclinic
A private medical clinic operating within the University, offering modern diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Academia
University of Sarajevo, University of Tuzla, University of Mostar, University of Banja Luka, University “Džemal Bijedić” Mostar, and the Academy of Sciences and Arts of BiH (ANUBiH), Public Health Institute of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina – partners for joint R&D, staff exchanges, and academic networking.

ETF IEIL Network
IEILs are living‑lab environments where academia, industry, government and civil society co‑create, test and scale solutions with the aim to fast-track human-machine interface (HMI) innovations that address labor shortages and foster inclusive employment, safety, and wellbeing in labor-intensive sectors.
Creation of IEIL at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University of Zagreb is part of the broader regional efforts to upgrade university entrepreneurial infrastructures in four higher education institutions (HEIs) in Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro and Serbia within the project HMI2MARKET, funded under the 2024 EIT HEI Initiative.
As part of the regional IEIL network, SSST sees strong potential for complementarities with partner HEIs in shared micro-credential programmes, joint applied research, student mobility, and the co-development of interdisciplinary HMI and digital-health solutions.
